Metsä Group and Fortum are hosting a R&D collaboration and an innovation ecosystem to accelerate the development of sustainable bioproducts, supported by a grant from Business Finland. The total volume of this 4-year initiative is over EUR 100 million. Metsä Spring is coordinating this collaboration scheme on behalf of Metsä Group and also carries out R&D related to sustainable textile fibres, 3D fibre products and biocomposites on its own and jointly with Metsä Fibre, Metsä Board and Fortum. The ambition of ExpandFibre is to meet the growing demands for sustainable textile fibres and other added value biomaterials.
